Mylo Xyloto
Coldplay’s latest album, entitled ‘Mylo Xyloto’, has finally been released yesterday. This marks the fifth studio collaboration for the Chris Martin led group, with their last record ‘Viva La Vida’ being released back in 2008. Notable songs that I’ve liked so far include ‘Paradise’ and ‘Major Minus’. Read on to watch the fun music video [...]
1960s IBM Wall Clock
In partnership with IBM, Schoolhouse Electric has decided to rerelease the iconic 1960s IBM clock that has iconically adorned many public facilities in years past. According to it’s description:
A faithful reproduction of the classic IBM indicator clocks found in offices, warehouses and schools during the mid-20th century. Hand assembled in our Portland, Oregon factory, it’s constructed with a spun steel case and domed glass lens. The dial features an original graphic treatment, circa 1947. Operated by a Quartz movement with a red, continuous sweep second hand.
Best thing is that it’s actually manufactured right here in America. $235 at Schoolhouse Electric.

AeroShot Inhalable Caffeine
If you’re anything like me, you’d insert caffeine straight into your veins if it weren’t socially unacceptable. For those of us who drink coffee on the regular, it can sometimes be a drag. Maybe you even need a couple of cups just to get a light buzz. Well, fret no more — David Edwards has you covered. The Harvard professor is gearing up for the massive launch of his latest product invention: the AeroShot. Each capsule-like container of airy life juice serves up three puffs of 100 mg caffeine doses. When the product hits shelves in a few months, it’ll cost you $3. Want to know how the AeroShot performs? Check out this Times article for a full recap. Or you can head over to the AeroShot website to get your hands on a free sample before the launch.
PlugBug
Running out of outlets for all your Apple products? Well, you could buy a power strip, but that’s so last year. Instead, check out the nifty little PlugBug charger. Plug it into the wall to charge your laptop and your iPod/iPhone/iPad simultaneously while only taking up the space of a single outlet. In true Tetris style, you connect your Macbook’s charger into the bright red PlugBug and end up with a piece that all of your friends will envy, even though they probably don’t even need one. I could see this being super helpful if you travel often since you won’t have to hog up several much-sought-after outlets during your layover, or, as Guy Kawasaki says, if you “want to carry less crap.” $35 at TwelveSouth.
What’s Inside Your McRib
The coveted McRib. Yes, the triumphant return of the beloved McDonald’s sandwich will continue to grace the fast-food giant’s menu for another two weeks. Despite the pop culture history behind the McRib, I’ve never been one to really feel the need to try one. I guess after this article I’d probably stick with that notion. The Week has analyzed what’s inside this elusive cult icon and as expected, it’s not pretty.
Ro-bottle Opener
Wine: how classy people get wasted. This awesome wine bottle opener: how nerdy fellas get in on the action, too. But make sure you’re using it on a worthwhile wine. I’ve taken a fancy to red grenaches lately, so next time you’re in your neighborhood liquor store, avoid the tall boy and pick a bottle up. You’ll dig it. Trust me. So, go ahead. Wine and dine that certain someone special with this little guy. 100% cyborg approved. $17 at ModCloth.
Lytro Camera
Lytro is gambling big that their soon-to-be-released camera will not only stand out from the myriad of pocket cameras (or cell phones) currently on the market, but will also revolutionize the photography industry as a whole. How so? Lytro’s unique light field sensor essentially “captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space.” What does this mean to someone who just wants to food blog their lunch? Well, basically it boils down that with this camera you can take any image and in post-process, choose at whim where you wanted your focus to be in that image. With this feature, Lytro could very well be the game-changer in how photographers will continue composing shots. I guess it also doesn’t hurt that it comes in both a stylishly designed body and three different colors. For more information, including a video interview with Lytro’s PR and a post-processing demo, head over to Engadget. $400-499 at Lytro (available spring 2012).

SWIMS
The elements are never too kind to your kicks, especially to your dress shoes. If you’re tired of tiptoeing around puddles or snow this season, give these trendy galoshes a shot. The product of rough New York winters and Scandinavian ingenuity, these SWIMS promise to keep your wingtips waterproof on your next outing to work. They come in a multitude of colors if you’re not particularly partial to orange being mixed in to your outfit. $98 at Brooks Brothers.
Bicycle Built to Fold
I’ve got a ton of respect for bikers, but I won’t lie. I’ve never thought bikes were a particularly cool-looking way to get around. Until now. STRiDA is possibly the sassiest one you’ll come across. Why? Because the entire thing folds in on itself in about five seconds. Weighing in at 22-23 lbs (depending on which model you snag), you’ll have absolutely no trouble toting this guy around. It’s a design concept that hasn’t gone unnoticed either. Treehugger named the contraption Best Industrial Design in the Best of Green awards. And with a smattering of fun colors, you’ll wind up having to force yourself to choose. I won’t lie to you, though. These guys aren’t cheap, so you’ll definitely want to make it a solid investment. I did recently catch several STRiDAs on Fab.com for less than $600, so keep your eyes peeled for deals. $650 at STRiDA.
The Walking Dead Season Two
If you didn’t catch on to “The Walking Dead”, you’ve seriously missed out on the spookiest series on television right now. With season two premiering last night, the series immediately picks up with Rick and the gang trying to make it out from undead Atlanta to Fort Benning. Of course, hordes of zombies will probably get in the way of this. If you haven’t caught up, all isn’t lost (yet) as season one is currently on sale at Amazon. Catch “The Walking Dead” Sundays 9/8c on AMC.
