Lytro Camera

Lytro is gambling big that their soon-to-be-released camera will not only stand out from the myriad of pocket cameras (or cell phones) currently on the market, but will also revolutionize the photography industry as a whole. How so? Lytro’s unique light field sensor essentially “captures the entire light field, which is all the light traveling in every direction in every point in space.” What does this mean to someone who just wants to food blog their lunch? Well, basically it boils down that with this camera you can take any image and in post-process, choose at whim where you wanted your focus to be in that image. With this feature, Lytro could very well be the game-changer in how photographers will continue composing shots. I guess it also doesn’t hurt that it comes in both a stylishly designed body and three different colors. For more information, including a video interview with Lytro’s PR and a post-processing demo, head over to Engadget. $400-499 at Lytro (available spring 2012).
